GCI was selected as the general contractor for Google’s $14 million project. The entire first floor needed to be gutted, readjusting the layout and flow to improve user experience. A full new commercial kitchen was added, along with a dish-drop and grease shaft extending through three occupied upper floors. Wellness amenities like a new fitness center, equipped with indoor-outdoor workout spaces and spa-like locker rooms was included to encourage an active lifestyle for staff. To improve meetings spaces, a large Tech Talk was added in the heart of the building, as well as new phone and huddle rooms near the lobby. The complex designs and specialty spaces are largely in part to the architect’s hospitality background, creating a one-of-a-kind office space for Google. Plumbing and Electrical work included a new 1,500-gallon grease inceptor, new sanitary sewer lines, new core restroom locations and extensive rework before concrete was re-poured.
