This year, our focus is on habitat restoration, as we recognize the invaluable benefits that healthy ecosystems bring to our daily lives.
Recently, the GCI team contributed to this effort by undertaking habitat restoration at Rockaway Beach in Pacifica. This involved uprooting non-native invasive plants and weeds, such as ice plant, mustard, and ox tongue, to pave the way for the planting of coastal native species like beach sage, seaside daisy, and strawberry.
Through these efforts, we hope to maintain, increase, and sustain biodiversity in the region. Spending time in nature, whether it be hiking or simply admiring the beauty of our surroundings, is an experience that we all cherish and must work towards preserving for generations to come.
